A Polish scaffolder ended up in court after swearing at police during a drunken night out.

Robert Arkita, of Nelson Place West in Bath, admitted to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner outside the Delfter Krug club on Barton Street.

But defence solicitor David Holden-White told Bath Magistrates that the 20-year-old did not appreciate the offensive nature of his words as they were frequently spoken by colleagues at work.

He added that on the night of the incident on May 27 Arkita was confused by the language differences and had not fully comprehended what was going on.

The court heard that Arkita became annoyed with door staff when they refused to allow him to re-enter the popular bar.

He became aggressive and started swearing at them and a street marshal who was trying to defuse the situation. Two police community support officers at the scene said Arkita seemed to be trying to provoke a fight.

The court heard him shout "come on, I can take you on" and "back off I am not going home".

That'll be handy when he drops the odd putlog.. Dicey when it falls from above young Jerzy ...
