Sharon Shoesmith loses her appeal over being sacked from her £2,000.00 (plus) a week job with Haringey Council. Tough!!! There's far too many of these negligent public sector "bosses" being paid ridiculous amounts of money. How many more of these incompetent, overpaid leeches are there out there, waiting to be found out, like Miss Shoesmith,,,, (i don't believe in calling her Ms Shoesmith),,, what does "Ms" mean anyway?? Yes Prentice Boy, BUT The buck has to stop somewhere. Could be she has been made a scapegoat for others, but as the boss of these others, she should shoulder the biggest responsibility.
Personally, I don't think anyone should be considered for a career in social services, until they have at least 2 kids of their own.

I think the point at which she lost any hope of public sympathy was when she started distributing a hand-out to the assembled press that showed that Harringey Social Services had met all their 'quality targets'. So everything's OK then... She's clearly even less sensitive to public opinion than the average theiving MP.

Bottom line is that she presided over a department which has serious flaws to the extent that at least one child was killed. That is sufficient, media involvement or not.

One of my staff once hit a child while driving too fast...should I be HATED for that?
