I am doing my porch shortly,pvc doors and windows with a pitched roof ,my question is can i just rest joists on the frame without a lintel.Looking at porches in my area with pvc windows all round ,i cant see how they can use a lintel

bed a 75mmx100mm timber wall plate round the building first.

yes, bed the plate onto mortar, where it sits upon masonry.
you can secure any frame heads into the plate too, using screws.
the only trouble with fitting a wall plate to the outside masonry is you will have little room to form a soffit, particularly if the roof is steep.
if the roof is steep, you can fix a secondary plate to the TOP of the ceiling joists and fit the rafters to this secondary plate.
