Position of DW booster pump

Just a thought Brummie, but how and where would you run the safety pipe in a basement? Not taking the pee, just never thought about it.

Not sure, unless the basement is subject to flooding and has a sump pump. The manufacturers suggest basement fitting is possible though. With it being under pressure running the pipe up to gulley level might be an option but I suspect this contravenes the regs. I've not done any unvented since college, I keep meaning to get a ticket though, at the moment the manufacturers are keen to push these products and courses appear to be two a penny.

The performance of that Grundfos is not very good anyway; less than 1bar. If you go into any plumbers merchant you can get a twin impeller pump at least 1.5 bar for almost half the price of 2 Grundfos ones. Most of them are pretty much the same and are based on a decent Crompton motor with a plastic moulded pump housing each end. The one I've got now has worked for about 8 years although I had to replace the seals once. You can get 3 bar pumps but you pay a lot more.
Thanks for your help. Just one before i go out and shop, I have found that when I find a twin impeller pump it usual says, to give your shower better pressure. My question, is that just a sales pitch, can they be used for boosting the pressure through out the house

The ones I've fitted have been to boost the pressure at all the taps but not the wc.

can you remmeber were you purchased them, or what makes any of them were.

Lots of confuddlement in this thread?
Speak to Stuart Turner, Salamander and.. er forget the rest. They will send you pretty piccies of where you can put which sort of pump. You do not pump the mains. Don't put the loo on a pumped supply.

If you're interested in Unvented (mainsish) pressure Hot water you need to check your mains pressure and flow. Lots to read hereabouts. You can put a UV cylinder in a basement but you need an approved pump to get rid of any discharge.

Well I'm not confuddled Chris, it's those other guys going off topic. I must have fitted six in different houses but the one I have now was made by a firm called NT Plasmatic but they don't exist anymore. That one was on offer in Travis Perkins. I've fitted one from Wickes that I remember but I don't think the quality varies very much, it's just an electric motor and a pump each end and they last for years. I had one of them which had both impellers at the same end of the motor which wasn't a good idea.
