Anyone know about these snails they are about 3 times the size of normal garden snails.
The shell looks right for an edible snail, but I don't think I've ever seen a raw one.

I think they were Roman snails. If so they are edible but protected
I'd argue that no snails are edible, ewww.

A friend of mine breeds racing snails and races them against other snails. Once, he had an idea to make them go faster - he removed their shells to make them lighter but that only made them more sluggish.In the olden days when Romans ate snails. The snails roamed the land freely ready to be picked for lunch.
