25 September at 23:48 · ..UPS 2 pumps have a problem!
They create a short high current surge when they are first powered.
This can weld the contacts on domestic timeclocks and programmers causing the system to be powered even when they are off.
As a temporary solution until the pump itself is modified Grundfos have made available a special cable with a built in resistance of 40 ohms which limits the initial surge current to a safe value which will not damage the controls.
This lead is now being included within the pump box but if you have an earlier pump supplied without one then if you contact Grundfos then they should send you one. — in United Kingdom.

..Grundfos Engineering Hi Tony, Thank your for your comment. I can add that we are testing different solutions and trying to find out if we can change the design, so the extra cable will no longer be necessary. Best regards, SigneLike · Reply · 26 September at 14:42..
My timer only allow HW and CH on timer together or one of the other. They are not controlled independent via a timer.
Turned out to be a fault between the timer controller and the immersion tank thermostat. Both replaced and back to normal. Thank you for your input though.
Pump is brand new. Should I check anyway?
That's EVERY time it is turned on!
