I wouldn't rely on BG for correct diagnosis.
You have already had someone who is a contractor to BG. He changed a part that did not fix it !
Now it seems you have a BG employee coming on the side !
He might be able to diagnose the fault but if he repairs it then thats contrary to his employment contract and they are told they will be sacked. ( Although I think that would not stand up in court if it was not for a BG customer. )
Have you even considered getting a competent independent boiler engineer who will no-fix no-fee for you ?
Tony
sorry do you need help with the bigger words?
non·sense
–noun 1. words or language having little or no sense or meaning.
2. conduct, action, etc., that is senseless, foolish, or absurd: to have tolerated enough nonsense.
3. impudent, insubordinate, or otherwise objectionable behavior: He doesn't have to take that nonsense from you.
4. something absurd or fatuous: the utter nonsense of such a suggestion.
5. anything of trifling importance or of little or no use.
6. Genetics. a DNA sequence that does not code for an amino acid and is not transcribed (distinguished from sense).

it's not nonsense as this thread will prove. A BG "approved" contractor has already failed to fix it. . . .
Nickso. Guess dnangermouse can only speak from experience of the BG engineers he knows best and namely that would be himself .
So if he says he would not trust a BG diagnosis then who are you to disagree with him
Wasn't Paul Barker recently contracting for them doing that kind of work? BG do use contractors in certain area's even for breakdown work as they're heavily understaffed on some patches. (Oxford for example)

i dont know about those areas, perhaps they did and if they did i stand corrected. all i know is you will never get a contractor doing that kind of repair here.

they did in Luton too (and still do). Not on all areas maybe but it is a nationwide practice especially during very busy periods.
