Preparation for electrical log burner

I recently posted about inserting electric fire in hole I have looked an uploaded some pics as to what the space looks like.. I would be greatful for any info on what I would needed eg .plastering....is it a big job? is it straighforward, could the pipe on the right be cut as the fire couldn't fit in with it...I ask because I want info beforehand, before i get the man to do the job in, no one else to ask who would know many thank

Simple job to cut off pipe, you could line with plasterboard to simplify plastering.
