Private Number Plates

There is absolutely no benefit in having private plates.
Maybe advertising? Making that particular tradesman stand out. A bit like a sign written van. I can sort of understand it on company vehicles but private individuals?

Saw this in Hornchurch today. If you stand back 400 yards and squint, you should be able to make out what it is supposed to say.

Saw this one yesterday morning. What is it with these builders and their private plates.

Presumably E113 NFX.
I wanted to get out of the car and laugh at them! Imagine spending all that money for a plate that has to be butchered to even attempt to resemble what that wanted.
Joke.

The young Asian girl that was on the same First Aid course as me last week, Alisha, had a Merc with the reg Y A11SHA with a yellow bolt on the second '1' to make it look like an 'i'.

Mottie, a fitting question: how do these people get through MOTs?

I understand some cars may be < 3 years old but many are older.

And why do plate manufacturers make them?

Either a friendly tester or they just fit the correct plates back on for the test. When plate makers sell those plates, they are sold as 'not road legal' or 'show plates'.
