Problem with toilet flusher (disconnected)

Hi guys,

I've an issue with my toilet flusher - it appears to have become disconnected from the rest of the system (see attached photos).

I've tried to connect it back but it appears to be harder than it looks. I've looked to see if I can see anything that may have snapped off or anything like that but I'm stumped.

Any help is appreciated, hopefully the pictures show enough detail.

Push the blue tab in and simply push on.
