My installer is recommending a Project Apex EV charger and reassures me it's compatible with Octopus.
Does anyone have experience with these chargers and using them with Intelligent Octopus Go?
Am I better asking for a Myenergi Zappi?
Many thanks

I'm with Octopus and I'm on intelligent Octopus Go. Octopus told me to get an Ohme Home Pro.

It used to give me cheap leccy via a smart meter from 11.30 to 05.30 @ 7.5p but now it's changed. Octopus suggested I tweak the settings and currently it chooses when to charge at the cheap rate and it's 7p.

Give Octopus a bell, they will be able to advise.

If you have solar and want to integrate, the Myenergi Zappi would probably be the best one to go for.

Ohme Home Pro support VW vehicles.

This page tells you about Octopus and Ohme:

But if you have any questions, give them a ring, they're very helpful.

I emailed Project and they sent me this. So I think I'll go for a the Zappi or Ohme as they're already set up for intelligent charging. Is there much to choose between them charger or app wise?

I can only speak for the one I have. I don't know the other. Maybe someone else will come along with advice?

What difference does that make?

Did you really think that was helpful to anyone?

It's still an EV.

Try posting something helpful to the OP.
I despise people referring to vans as cars. It has reached an unacceptable level over recent months. It wasn't particularly a dig at you - just a general venting.

Incidentally I own an EV which isn't a car.

The most important thing is to remind every EV owner to retax this calendar month, even if his/her tax isn't due.

Zappi is a large affair that the cable is wrapped around for storage and has a holder for the plug on the front.

Ohme is a tiny item, sold to be extra small and discrete, but then needs a clumping big hook on the wall next to it to store the cable, and a separate holder next to that to clip the plug into. They are also supplied with a short preattached cable so unless the consumer unit is directly behind it on the other side of the wall, an external junction will be required to complete the ugly mess.

Like all of these devices, they turn on AC power to charge the car when required.
They and others have apps with various functionality which can be changed or removed at any time, so none of that should be relied on for anything.

Will probably go with the Zappi.
I wish the CU was that close - I have to have a cable installed from inside the house, down the garden to our driveway - 35 metres of armoured cable plus ethernet....

A bit inaccurate. My Ohme Home Pro has a small hook next to it which is a cable tidy and it incorporates a "socket" to park the plug.

There is an external junction box, but TBH, I don't consider it an ugly mess. Perhaps I'm easy to please.

Not personally a fan of the Ohme because of the prewired nature and external junction box. I have a Zappi myself.
