Putting up canopy

It's up. 8mm gap at top but tried silicone, used 80mm thunderbolts rather than the fixings that came with it. Just used silicone on wall and corners not a long side edges.

By your standards that's almost decent, I hope there not your markings by the left bracket as it's **** poor leaving markings that can be seen, I generally mark onto tape so it can be removed if I'm not certain it'll be covered
 
Just checked a different canopy and they've put silicone all along edges on sides. I just put it on joins. Should I have done the same?

You need to silicone that gap along the back edge where it is supposed to meet the wall.
Water running down the wall will simply run behind and drip off the top of the door frame.
