PVA adhesive

What's the difference between Evo Stik (or similar branded) PVA wood adhesive (in the green bottle), and bog-standard bulk PVA adhesive that you buy in 2.5 litre pots from local builders merchants (Cromar brand, in my case) at a fraction of the price?

Does the specialised PVA wood glue have different (and superior) chemical constituents?

Await answers with interest. I've used bog standard PVA stuff for glueing. It smells, looks and sticks just like Evo Stik and at an nth of the price.

personaly i use waterproof [blue evo resin w]or cascamite on all components that are structurely important or when failure would be expensive to repair otherwise i use screwfix wood glue £15 5L but its often on special for a tenner
having said that i have only had one joint fail and dont know if it was the glue or bad preperation

Always used Evo Resin W extra fast (green) but since they bought out those idiot new spouts I've struggled with using them! I've been thinking of changing to a cheaper one. Bought a litre of cheapo from Lathams today for T&G flooring in our garage. Compared to Resin W it seems like water ALSO cos it aint Extra Fast it doesn't grab and stays very wet for quite a while. Dunno bout the strength issue though

I always found Evostick somewhat expensive but used it for years.
Once I needed a lot more than before so I tried Humbrol which is about half the price.
I noticed little difference in performance.
Now I use an unknown brand PVA from my local woodyard which is cheaper still and works just as well.
