Ok so we need a new boiler as ours died 3 days ago, so since then we've had no hot water or heating obviously...Soooo the bloke says we need our system cleansed before he installs the new boiler which will take 5 days, just wondering if this is right? Thanks in advance Emma xXx

Sounds like a good carefull installer!

Its the ones who say they will do it in one day you have to be careful of! It takes about five hours just to powerflush!

So it takes 5 hours to flush it out? He said 5 days just for that part? I'm just worried about it all because obviously its a lot of money so we want it done properly but we also have 2 toddlers in the house so all this time without heating is awful for them.

It sounds as if he may have just put some chemicals in the system and be leaving them to act.

However thats virtually a waste of time as if its not circulating and warm as they will not do much.

Perhaps its a time wasting ploy while he is doing another installation elsewhere?

Not so good!

u need to flush it m8 with the correct machine and chemicals.

http://www.kamco.co.uk/powerflushing.htm check it out here.

average price for a flush is 300+ depending on areas and size of heating etc also degree of sludge etc ..

most boiler upgrades can be completed in 2 days including a flush/upgrade to trv`s and electrics etc ..

i would try elsewere or get a break down of his job and prices .. i am not saying he is ripping you off but he sounds a little vague in his time to complete . :0

good luck
