India

Jeez us wept trying to sort any thing with them is a nightmare

Apart from rampant corruption

There court system is that clogged up it takes years to get a civil case sorted

Cases eventually come to. Court and the claimants have been dead for years

India is protectionist, would insist on opening up visas and as far as trade goes it has a fragmented internal Market, so you have to negotiate regulatory compliance with each region.

Anyway UK are only able to cut n paste EU deals so they wouldn't know where to begin

Blunt and to the point. Kevin Rudd former Australian PM.

Australia has been negotiating a trade deal with India since 2009/10.

Does setting out a ten year roadmap constitute a quick deal?, methinks you're talking a load of b.

India and the UK on Tuesday agreed on key elements of a 10-year roadmap to enhance their relationship and pledged to take forward talks on a free trade agreement against the backdrop of Britain looking to enhance its trade ties amid its troubled exit from the European Union.

And one of their largest exports is beef, and the cow is sacred in India, only 10 years? You've certainly got your finger on the pulse Gal.

You are funny, that's a true gem

The country is puggled full of fruit cakes
Who are revered and considered normal.

India a nuclear power have a Space program

And millions defecate in the open every day

India/Pakistan/Bangladesh (they all seem to operate the same in regards to import and export) has so much red tape, corruption and scammers it is difficult to import and export there, though not impossible.

They love a letter of credit, it's a pain in the bum to sort out properly, but they do help protect both sides from fraud.

A trade deal with India will likely take a long time, however they are working on becoming the next big thing since China, if only they can sort out their red lines.

We were desperate to get out Alleppey... at hotel reception we were told the only train that day to Thiruvananthapuram was in half an hour.
we quickly packed our stuff and jumped into the taxi. The train station was across town. If you know India it's mad trying to get anywhere fast through Indian traffic. I can only describe our taxi journey to the car chase in the French connection.
Indians i believe to be the best drivers in the world.
Through packed streets of Alleppey I have no idea how we nether crashed. He was bibbing and revving .... Rickshaws would move politely out of our way without abuse and a smile..through a street of what should have been 3 lanes was something like 7 lanes and not in any order crossing each other.

We got to the train station I gave driver far to many US dollars and thanked him for helping us. We had a minute.
One Indian person in front of us in the ticket que. I apologised and asked could I jump in front as our train was leaving in 1 minute. They looked at me with those Indian time sod off eyes. The ticket man was in no rush. I don't think he could understand my panic.
Slowly he dished out the tickets for platform 13.

No train to be seen so thinking we had missed it we run an run in the hope it was late. Up and down the stairs each platform had a set up and down from 1 to 13.
We were shattered by 13 in 90 degree heat.

No train...

One Swedish girl sat waiting; I run up to her "Are you going to
Thiruvananthapuram?"
" yes the train is late" she replied.
" thank God we can relax"

3 hours later the train turns up...
2 hours later we leave for Thiruvananthapuram
Thats Indian time
When in India do as the Indians or go spin.

So tell me what is the size of Australia beef exports to India.

No idea, only that beef is in the top ten Australian exports and they are one of the largest exporters of beef in the world. How many dead cows can you export to a country that holds them sacred?, very few I would suggest, not a recipe for a quick trade deal.
