I have a light fitting and switch which has been wired the traditional way (i.e. switch live).

However I want to add another switch to the set-up to make a 2-way switch.

Using the Quinetic receiver and switch is it possible to

1. Keep my existing wired 1 gang switch but add a Quinetic wireless switch to the set up?

or

2. Will I have to remove the existing wired switch and add two wireless Quinetic switches?

You’ll need two Quinetic switches.
A Quinetic receiver switch

and a regular Quinetic switch

It’s very simple to do what you want.

here’s what you do (ignore the spelling error on the main page  )
Many thanks

I actually watched the video earlier :D

The reason why i posted is because I have few issues

1. My missus doesn't want us to change the existing wired switch (because it's fancy and matches the theme of the house
)

However, she could be persuaded if the Quinetic switch/ receiver came in black. But it doesn't like it does having looked on TLC

2. Also the Quinetic switch/ receiver requires a 25mm backbox and I have a 16mm

Ideally I'd like to avoid the palava of making a deeper opening for a backbox

Is there any other way around this with Quinetic?

Maybe best to contact Quinetic.

But, IMO, there isn't a smart option that uses standard switches. Someone else on here will probably tell me i'm wrong....

To do what you describe, with the same switches, you'll have to do it the hard way: channel out the wall and run 3-core&earth cable to the new additional switch position.

The Shelly range can work with existing switches.
