BBC tv started broadcasting back in the 30's I think, the only tv channel. ITV started in the 50's then the BBC had another channel, this was named BBC2, and when it first broadcast on April 20th 1964, the original channel was named BBC1, so 1964 is the answer. Sneaky. I'll let someone else ask a question, got some Taggart to watch.
