Ipswich
Well spotted, but its not a spelling contest do you ever mis type? No, the Alf Ramsey era
Yes 61-2 you're right, so giuss another or I'll annoy Bodd again...62? Alf Ramsey was manager, he took over as England manager the next year I think.
He may be confused by the hairstyle but i'm pretty sure Trevor Whymark hasn't come out 'that way'.Driving to work one morning my mate told me that his mate who's a drag queen dad played for Ipswich Town.
Trevor Whymark
" yes of course I remember him"
Shame he has dementia now. But the weird thing was that exact same day I was in the loft and found some dirty & some football mags. Center spread of one mag was a
Trevor Whymark interview

Yes, 1961/62 season saw them win the league in their very first season in the old First Division. An amazing achievement considering the club didn't become professional until 1938 - it's hard to imagine a team like Harrogate making their way from League One to the top of the Premier League in the next 20 years.
We do like things to be correct on this thread so do please try.
I remember him being part of a great Ipswich team led by Bobby Robson. I have seen his son perform a couple of times and had him on my lap. I think he's very proud of his dad.
I'm sure you meant to say "we like to do things correctly on this thread,

Sorry, but the proofreader in me couldn't help it.
And yes, i remember that great Ipswich side of the 70s and early 80s. A great Cup Final win over Arsenal and a fantastic league season where they were just pipped at the post by Villa. They had some good players; like England captain Mick Mills, Kevin Beattie, John Wark in midfield with Eric Gates, Whymark ahead of him and striker Paul Mariner. Their UEFA Cup final against AZ Alkmaar was an epic goalfest and capped their golden age in style.
A long way back from League One these days but i'm sure the Tractorboys will keep on ploughing...
