Quiz.

e to the power i.π ?

Minus 1.

Otherwise known as Euler's formula.

It was flashed up when Homer Simpson entered 3D land. The Simpsons had many maths based references.

Although I was first introduced to imaginary numbers whilst at uni I never covered Eulers formula but was aware of it. For the benefit of others, an imaginary number (i) is the square root of a minus number (namely minus 1). So, for example, 5i means 5 times the square root of minus 1.

I studied them at uni as part of my "maths for economists" course (along with calculus and matrices).

Where (specifically) was the first escalator in the UK (and arguably the first in the world)?

People using it were offered smelling salts and cognac when they reached the top.

Fair play [league]... Which incidentally is how Ipswich still managed to play in Europe the year after they were relegated from the premiership.

Unfortunately, that is not the answer that I am looking for. I am looking for a specific store/shop. BTW, the shop in question has its own well to provide it with water.

This was just meant to be a bit of fun
Euler is enormous fun. I mean, who would have guessed? Admittedly when you look into it, it becomes an, "oh, gosh so it is", moment.
I'm sure I first saw it at school.

You need to get in more.
