Just got 1 st quote for a boiler replacement.

Remove old boiler and fit new Worcester 15ri in same place in the kitchen.
Fitting a new flue, through the wall and also fit a filter system that allows the warranty cover to increase to 10 years cover on your new boiler.
Drain down old heating system, do basic flush on heating system.
Fit new wireless programmable timer on heating system.
Carry out a basic heating flush to remove rust and build up in system.
Chemicals & inhibitor to be added to heating system.

£2820.
I can get the boiler for £1056 so cost for above is
£1764 including VAT. For Flue/thermostat/inhibitor and labour
Seems a bit high for 1 days work?

Thoughts? (And before anyone says it yes I’m waiting on two other quotes).

Maybe ask for a price if you supply the boiler?

Doubt it’s just that. Installer will likely be allowing for possible collection of said boiler, if so factor in fuel cost including possibly an initial site visit to survey and quote. Any fittings required and additional things like sand and cement or fast set. Perhaps you should have asked for an itemised quote so you know exactly what you’re paying for?

you are free to go elsewhere for quotes .
But dont kid yourself that all that 1700 quid is profit and goes straight into the guys pocket
not saying i agree with price one way or another but it costs a lot of money just to be able to do the job

As said above, price is what it is.
Quality does not have a sale price.
Then again quality is not just claiming but carrying out a task that is exact and precise

You don’t like the price, get another

Fair price.
I had my boiler replaced couple of years ago, more or less same job as yours.
All quotes I got were around £2700/£3000

I was quoted @£3.5k* to replace my boiler with a Vaillant 415 pure. A registered Gas safe installer quoted me £600 plus £80 parts to fit a boiler if I supplied my own. To make things easier, he offered to buy the boiler I wanted - a Vaillant 418 plus (so a higher spec boiler) and he got it cheaper than I could have got it for so altogether it came to less than half my original quote. He was an 'approved' Vaillant installer (salesmen, really!) so it came with a 7 year guarantee which runs out this year.

*Included in that price, British Gas wanted £600 for either scaffolding or a tower just to fit the flue trim on my flank wall - the fitter I used just went up a ladder for 15 mins.
