Can I have a radial feed for my large freezer fed from a MCB but not a rccd? Ths cable will be run in the loft space through a ceiling into a cupboard, clipped down the wall, through a floor/ceiling and down the back of a kitchen unit ( between the unit and the wall ) All exposed cabling.

yes, although it would be more compliant to use a FCU to connect the freezer rather than a socket as if the socket could be used to supply equipment used out of doors it required RCD protection (30mA)

To use the socket for anything else first you would have to remove the LARGE freezer from its resting place as the socket will be behind it and not accessable otherwise. So the chances of it being used for anything else is minimal. However an FCU would be just as easy so maybe thats the way to go.

I can just imagine going on me holidays, coming back to a tripped RCCD and having a lot of spoiled food!

the cable should have mechanical protection or buried 50mm in to walls with no metallic parts and the socket-outlet will need to be labeled for it's purpose ie freezer!
Flexisheild could be used.

Thats why I stated that ALL the cable is surface mounted and running through roof spaces and inside a cupboard ( I could use trunking here )
