hi all need help shut radiators of and drained down pipework so i could adjust some pipework to a new rad downstairs once all done went to open all rads but one of the rads upstairs as i was turning the valves back open the little square bit snapped so could not open tried getting pliers onto it but metal was just collapsing any advice how to open this valve

You need to buy a new bleed nipple and replace.

Alternatively if the radiator has a blank on the opposite side, you could crack that open with a pair of grips and bleed it that way.
 
thanks for reply but i mean the square bit on the valve the bit you turn to shut valve off

Ahh unfortunately it's going to have to be a replacement of the whole valve.

Has the square brass part just rounded off or has it completely snapped?

If it has just rounded off you may be able to get a pair of footprints on it

no snapped bugger it dont like i got alot of choice but to replace it thanks john youve been most helpful
