Rainwater Gulley

Hi..had a problem with a gutter dripping from roof..was full of mulch at the bottom of drainage pipe, so easy unblocked it..
On further investigation looking in the grid where the drain pipe releases, as i have noticed on heavy rain, the water was spilling back out of grid. Obs knowhere for it to go. I have now unblocked that too as full of compacted mud.
Just appears to be an old clay u bend/gulley,as water goes in spills out the other end on to the patio area?.
Should this be right?..cant see/feel anymore under ground drainage pipe , just like a u bend..which obviously full of stagnant water now.just thinking a drain pipe end connector diverter could be a better option.. i have a enclosed a picture..any advice be great..cheers

That pipe will go somewhere. Keep cleaning. Maybe invest in a flexi drain coil.

Would you post a pic showing a larger context of the walls both sides of the corner at ground level?

If the drainage pipe from the roof was blocked then chances are the gutters are filling with mulch debris & need cleaning.
Why not put food coloring into a bucket of water and look for where it goes?
Open & check any manhole in the vicinity for colored water flowing thro?

Typically, there are two types of residential gulley - a trapped gulley thats usually connected to the house sewage drain - & a non trapped "gulley" which is simply an upstand connected to a bend & a soakaway.

Use a cup and a large sponge to remove all the water in the pic & pic & post what then shows.

Found the problem after sponging out..outlet was blocked with an handful of cement,..broke it out, runs free as a bird now..cheers for help..
