Hi all,

I have just installed a new Wren kitchen as one of the final parts of a full house renovation.
I've not done anything like this before so it's very much been a case of learning as I go.

When installed in the carcass the electric single oven sits far too low down for comfort and probably needs to come up about 3 and a half or 4 inches.

Is it just a simple case of building a frame for it to sit on out of something like CLS?

I can then cover it up with a vanity piece of the same material as the cupboards (gloss white).

Many thanks in advance.

Basically yes, anything sturdy will do. Don't alter anything which may affect openings for doors and the like, if there are any.

So long as the frame is no less combustible than the floor covering , it should be ok. Check the MI’s in case they say anything

The oven sits at the top of the carcass, no frame should be required, usually sit on a couple of metal rails fitted on carcass sides to aid ventilation.Infill panel or draw below depending on dimensions.(timber rails are acceptable as the base of oven should not be hot.)

The oven enclosures I've used have an extra-strong platform to take the weight of the oven, compared to an ordinary shelf and supports, so you'd have to move the supporting platform, probably drilling new holes..

Is yours an under-counter or a tower cabinet?

Does it have adjustable legs?

Hi John,

It is an under counter cabinet sitting underneath the gas hob. It has adjustable legs (on the cabinet, not the oven, if that's what you are referring to).

I was thinking two bits of CLS of the correct dimension sitting either side of the cabinet to almost act as a 'rail' for the oven to slide onto, raising it up.

How much can you raise it by adjusting the legs?

I think we've got our wires crossed somewhere.
If I adjust the legs, it will bring the whole carcass up (which is no good and I can't do anyway as the worktop is in and fitted).

sounds like youve got the wrong oven TBH

built under ovens are designed to be around 700 high at the front so they are designed to line up with base unit doors

if youve got a shorter oven its probably a single oven designed as a built in which goes in a tall oven housing

You can make it work but you need a dummy shelf to raise the height up and then cut a 600 door down to fit the space left -once youve put in the doors either side you will be able to measure the height you need

I’m pretty sure one of my ovens was mounted on a couple of pieces of angle plate.
