Ravenheat boilers - what do people think?

The amount of gas you use is propional to the amount of heat you are using. The boiler modulated over a ratio of about 4:1.

There is a small loss of efficiency on heating if the minimum power output exceeds the heat demand and that causes cycling and slightly less overall efficiency.

I would not advise fitting a larger combi than necessary if the heating load is smaller.

Having said that 14 li/min is only one and a half average taps!

But heating is usually over 80% of the annual load.

Hi Tommygee,

Although I suggested the Remenha Avanta 35c to you, I do so because the output to central heating is actually 30kW, whilst having 35kW to hot water.

Speak to one or two Broag Remeha installers in your area if you can as you're probably going to need one anyway.

Thanks a lot fellas. My heating guy got back to me today with a quote and it turns out that his boiler of choice is the Broag Advanta, so good news all round. I will discuss with him the relative merits of the two capacities and make a decision based on that.

I wouldn't have a Ravenheat if you paid me but the quality of the installation and system is just as important as the make/model. Vaillant and Glow worm are my faves and reasonably priced.
