Right,

Everything was OK and then I noticed that when the Rads are up to tempertaure etc.... the boiler runs for 2 mins and then stops on supposedly reaching temperature! This cycle goes on forever or until you let all the rads cool right down.

I have proved out all the obvious stuff.. pump is OK and circulating water, Room stat is calling, Rad TRV's calling, water temperature sensor OK etc..... my latest theory is that the 3 way valve may be passing (slightly) and hot water is gong through the heat exchanger and back round the boiler heating loop.... hence heating up to temperature very quickly. The pipe into the heat exchanger from the 3 way valve is very hot

Has anyone else had this.... is it possible for the valve seats to get pitted etc..

Any help greatly appreciated

PS: I have also proved and set up Gas valve.... modulates fine ansd is set up fro the correct heat demand etc...

It is the temp sensor that is fitted to the flow in the boiler, just above and to the left of the pump.

Remove the 2 wires and test resistance (look in instruction manual) with multimeter.

This is a wet pocket so boiler needs to be isolated from system, and drained if you need to replace it.

Also check the ch potentiometer, again follow service instructions in book.

Its a little worring that someone has set up their gas valve but never heard of an NTC !!!

Dave - Thanks for the help.

NTC = (????? Temperature?? Controller??) - I have tested the resistance and this is varying with temperature change in the Kohm area. Do you know the resistance/ temperature range correlation? (Not a PT100 type device!)

I will check the pot later.

As for the gas valve comment.......every smart **** probably starts as a novice but then again, he may have been born with a gift?!
