Decided in the end to bin the plumber, went down to my local supplier and bought a new set of wicks, a new in line fuel filter, and various sized couplings. Fitted in line fuel filter and checked setting of burner ( i.e oil flow etc)did all the work with a syringe, couple of spanners a screw driver a copy of settings from company on the internet. Took me approx 4 hrs to get oil setting right and a further 4 hrs to actually get the control box to function properly. We have now been running the rayburn for approx 3 weeks and no problems. Thanks for all the comments.
