Electrician came and firstly tightened all the connections in the main board (some neutrals were loose apparently)
Then noticed that the big chunky 100A fuse that sits by itself just before the meter had been knocked and wasn't properly seated in it's socket (due to my wife using the under stairs cupboard to store full suitcases I'm guessing).
It's now been wired so it can't hopefully be knocked out easily again.
Plumber came to fix the rad leak too but it was only slight and well wrapped with towels anyway so not sure that was to blame.
I did the usual cooker / fan heater scenario this morning and all seems fine and will hopefully stay that way.
So many thanks again to those for their help here.
