Seriously, 'should' not, is that is a practice option rather than regulation?

Crimped joints can only be concealed if done properly.
Only two wires in a regular crimp butt.
Correct size crimp must be used.
Cables and joint must be in safe zone.
Correct crimping tool must be used.
Crimp would need to be sleeved (heat shrink?) or in an enclosure if covered by filler, IMO.
And, of course, should not be done on solid cores.

I'm sorry to have started a sentence with 'And'; that's not correct, either.

Now we don't want to go off on a tangent here and open that can of worms!

The norm does seem to be it's ok to use solid cores with crimps, but I do take your point. Please let's not give the op too much too think about. :D

He must have failed here as to many cables to crimp...if by the regulation you can only inline 2 wires....so I think we concur this is another failure.

Hang on.

You're from Dorset. You're supposed to say "Arr".

RF is from Yorks. He says "Aye".

;)

Right this is worse now. …

I think he has switched to the other type mcbs as the lighting ones are wylex…..I should have taken a picture before to be sure!!!!

On the circuit side he has put 2 x A3 radials in…….usual loading would exceed 20A on one of these for sure as typically it would power washing machine, dishwasher & kettle……and it would be common for all these to be on at once.

But he has also left the socket by the back door on another circuit….so someone working on this house may think they have isolated the kitchen circuits where as one would still be live!!! He has clearly labelled the CU with kitchen sockets…..

Please feel free to point out any other mr meaners,…..

So the two new brown and blue cables have been put in by this electrician?

Where exactly do each of these cables go?

One cable I assume goes to the fused spur and two double sockets...?

Where does the other cable go?

That new wiring, by the way, is very untidy - not the work of a proper electrician.

If they really are two radials, then the circuit breaker is too large, and poses a fire risk.

The whole thing is utter shight.......

It is only the fan that is fused. The 2 x 13A twins are unfused.

The other wire goes to 3 x wall sockets which were existing, where he also picks up the tumble drier socket.....I will have to check this again as there aren't enough cables here........

Too right its messy......

It's a worry when you realise this, but your electrician clearly doesn't!

I have a trusted electricians phone number who I will call tomorrow.....
