Sometimes it feels like recycling is like micturating in the tempest.

What do you think?

I think I need a good dictionary.

mic·tu·rate
–verb (used without object), -rat·ed, -rat·ing. to pass urine; urinate

tem·pest
A violent windstorm, frequently accompanied by rain, snow, or hail.

****ing in the wind? :D

I try to get my wood out of skips, I always ask first but most people say its against health and safety for me to remove things from a skip and it has to go to the dump.

I've only done that once, and was quite surprised at the effects of wind eddies.

I think both the eddies have left the forum but may i suggest a remedy for the wind problem? ;)

But why?

Now we can recycle plastic, and the sh1te bin gets full every 2 weeks, it no longer overflows. family of 4. If we can do it, anyone can.

Because humans seem destined to over-use their environment in one form or another.

We've just had a letter from our local authority informing us that we can no longer put plastic containers (other than PET bottles) and any tin foil or foil trays into our recycling bin as the facility that they've just spent millions on can't handle them.

All we can recycle is Paper (which we used to anyway), glass (used to take it to Sainsbury's), tin cans and plastic bottles (which I used to take to the tip in a neighbouring area across the county border).
So I've now got a whopping great wheelie bin outside that is rarely half full (cos I crush the plastic bottles) that is going to have even less in it now (I like Indian food - ergo lots of foil trays)

I was watching the recycling lorry earlier on our street. FULL!! Its never been so full. The plastics and tins compartments, particularly, were overflowing. They had to stop on our street and wait for another lorry to take over so they could go and empty. This lot (Dawn recycling) will take any metals and plastics, as long as they are clean!

The black normal bins were picked up this morning too, didnt see any bulging lids or extra bags, despite 2 weeks worth of rubbish :D

Recycling ... Pah! ... Life's too short for such menial nonsense.

We pay council tax for refuse collectors to take away the garbage ... Let them recycle it.

Exactly. What else are Environmental Studies degrees for?

its a shambles down our way. a blue box. if its too big to fit in they wont take it. wont take tetra packs (even though it has a recycle label on it) they decide week by week what they will and wont take. they thoughtfully redecorate the road every week as well with the stuff they wont take and throw all over the road.
