When I inspected and tested my wiring, I found two socket spurs that I could not find corresponding connections for.

Now that my builder has started pulling down ceilings, I have found them: Two JBs on the ring. These JBs were in the void above the ceiling, and the floor above is tongue-and-groove chipboard. I.e. pretty much inaccesible.

The house was built about 14 years ago. Were the regs different then or was the electrician who wired my house a bit of a cowboy?

AFAIR, the regs in this time have always referred to screwed connections needing to remain accessible.

Problem is, one man's "accessible" is another man's "inaccessible"....

Just looked in the 14th Edition (01/10/66) and regulation B73 says:

"Where joints in cable conductors.....are required......they shall be accessible for inspection."

(excepting heating & underground cables)
