Relay Problem

No need to guess how to wire anything as there are resources for just about any controls ....

D+G confirmed the Relay is covered. However, Baxi still haven't sent over the report to D&G in order for them to sign-off on the work.

Do you not want it fixed under your insurance? It shouldn't cost you anything and the guys may not be monkeys after all.

If it i the actual relay which has failed, sourcing and replacing just the relay is one option. The relay is the part in the box, in a clear plastic case. Some relays simply plugged into a (octal) socket, so very easy to replace - if one can be sourced.
It might stop the op trying to get someone to change the relay as the original momo valve is no longer there.

I'm not convinced the insurance will cover it. Originally D&G said relays are covered - D&G booked Baxi to go and sort the Relay. However, Baxi are saying they have to get authority from DG. I have spent about 90 mins on the phone to D&G Customer Services whilst they were trying to connect me to the claims dept. Eventually Customer Services sent an email to the claims dept and told me they 'should' respond within 24 hours.

Its all very frustrating. I really wish I had just put the monthly premium in a savings account. At least I would just be dealing with the one person/business.

Just re read the whole post, you already have a 3 port mid position valve fitted ? I think the old relay valve will be redundant, you wouldnt have both

I have a 3 port mid position valve. I do not have a relay valve. I have a Relay Switch. It is my understanding the Relay Switch is not wired up correctly. When the 3 port mid pos valve was fitted, the wiring on the Relay Switch wasn't altered.

I think I need to get a plumber/gas safe engineer who is totally competent in the electrics so that he can re-wire the Relay Switch.

I hope that's right because tomorrow morning, that is what I think I will be ringing round asking for :)

This is not a recent fault then, it has been faulty since last FEB when you got the part from toolstation for the plumber.

When you ring, just tell them you need someone competent to sort out the wiring of your heating controls. Explain you have had someone in who has made a complete muck of it.

Ouch. Kind of right but if I had been using my house, I would have realised this a long way back. Have been aware of the problem since Christmas.

Thank you all for your patience.

Just one other question - when I get competent person in to sort the wiring, would I be able to ask for a room thermostat/timer to be connected as there are only TRV's on the radiators. Basically, my question here is will a room thermostat trigger any problems?

That relay can't control the new 3 way valve
