Removing a toilet cistern, that age old problem!

A nut splitter should get that nut off without the risk of any damage to the toilet.

You use them with impact guns, trying to split a nut like this with them manually, would split the pan in half.

Nah, you put a spanner or ratchet on the bolt head on the end of tool. Wind the chisel point into the nut - it splits - job done.

You've obviously never done the void bushes on a Cortina.

I have two different sets of these i use on the vans, a cheap set like the TS ones and a Bluepoint set, i use these with a Ingersoll Rand air gun and they only just about work then on track rod nuts.

Post a video of yourself splitting a galy nut, with a non hydraulic, sub £10 set and i will believe you.

Yes, fair point about galvanised. Can't think I've ever used this type of splitter on that type of nut. Usually pad saw type thing with h/saw blade and bloodied knuckles used on the cistern nuts.

I use them with a socket and the ratchet from the socket set. Never had a problem. Even cut the nuts off an old ceased tow ball on my van.

I never said they didn't work (i know they do) but, what you linked were not torque nut splitters, where you gradually apply a force and the nut cracks open.

You linked to an impact nut splitter, a really ****e set.

In any case, you have seen all the images i have, are you suggesting you are getting out your socket set and torquing this pan right up off it fixings to get the cistern off?
