Hi All

I am fitting a new bathroom, part of which means I'm moving the toilet, to do so I need to spin a 'T' piece in my soil pipe about 100*

However, at present it is sealed with mortar around the joint where the two pipes meet (see pics below) the pipe is cast iron.

So, how do I remove the mortar (if thats what it is?) ?

I'm concerned that if I start chisseling/drilling it out I might crack the pipe

Thanks!
Rich

looks like old putty. you can try chiselling it out , or applying heat around it to loosen it up. if in doubt just cut it out and use pipe sleeve joiners available from most plumbers merchants :)
