I need to remove a faulty gas oven and intend to replace it with an electric one so the gas fitting will not be used.

Eventually will have the pipe removed properly when I redo the kitchen but for now can I either leave the bayonet fitting just unconnected to anything or shall I fit one of these twist in bayonet plug caps:

Thanks

Personally I would just leave the bayonet unconnected provided your getting the pipe removed at some point.

It is a self sealing connector and can be left. However, it might be wise to apply leak detection fluid to the inside to ensure it’s not passing.
