Hello,

Can I repair a damaged cable using a back box, chock block/terminal strip and a blanking plate? Is this within regulations?

Thanks

Bob

I think the question will be 'Is this accessible?' It is clearly not a straightforward question, if it's behind that cupboard. I would do this but use maintenance-free connectors to make myself feel more at ease.

(Best not to split the original thread like this)

Thanks, yes it will be completely accessible. I will put it above the cupboard and run a new cable down to the socket.

Sorry for splitting the thread.

Sorry for splitting the thread.
Don't worry - it's actually a lot more common to see people being criticised for not splitting threads - and, for those who search the forum in the future, splitting has the advantage that the thread title then becomes more appropriate/relevant to the sub-topic being discussed. Some forums take thread splitting to extremes, but this one certainly doesn't!

Kind Regards, John

It sounds like we need to discuss this as a separate topic

I would solder and sleeve them rather than connectors.
