Ok so, in the bathroom ive got 4 downlights.

1 is extrctor fan and bulb.
3 is downlight cannister

I cant open the cannisters to change the bulbs (on the 3 cannister ones)

All the 3 cannister bulbs are blown

The shower extractor fan n bulb works fine n dandy

I think i need to replace the 3 cannisters as i cant get to the bulbs, the common problem of them seizing due to heat, whatever.

The cannisters have what i think are transformers on the ends of them.

How would i change the canisters? (Simple take old out put new in?)

Id like LED lights.

Do i need transformers still?

Am i right in thinking i need "ip65"

Or is there a way to open up one of theese seized old canisters then il put led bulbs in them. (I had an old thread about this)

Thank you all who will take time to help.

:)

Post a picture of the lights please. You could just get a new LED light fitting, and connect the mains wire into it, but if you can get the old bulb out, then you can fit an LED bulb into it. You'd use an MR16 it the blue box is a 12V transformer, or a GU10, if it's just a connector box. IP65 is best, and it's just a case of carefully leavering the light fitting down until the spring action pops down.

If you see my first reply, thata from the loft.

Is the blue thing a transformer if not. Nevermind about the whole transformer thing.

2nd reply are of the 4 lights. 2 have a blue band on it, not sure if thats tape or something, i dont know. :/

I think tomorrow, i will turn the leccey off, pull it down n try it again. (I did that before no luck) n see if i cant wrangle it out.

Right, there should be a circlip that holds the glass covering in place. Pinch the two pins together, and the circlip should pull out, then you might need an electrical screwdriver to get the glass to drop out, then you can get at the bulb.

This is it. (Pic) (click flamegaurd ip65)

Evrybody seems to have the same problem with changing the bulbs

So i thought id change the light cannister along with LED.

What would be a suitable replacement?

From wickes is possible.

Must be LED. (EFFICIENT, PLUS I WONT HAVE TO CHANGE ANY TIME SOON)

Don't know what size your cutouts are - the fan is likely to be much bigger.

I would fit these (note, you need to get the bezels separately)

Doesn't look like Wickes have heard of LED.

So. I brought 3 diwnlights. Not going with led. Allthough i wander, cant i just put led bulbs into them? The wireing at the mo is from supply to first light. Then light to 2nd light then 2nd to 3rd. However. While i was trying to wire theese new ones in. It seems there not enough room in the box to put 2 wires into the box.

Am i just being a noob
Or do i need a big junction box in the middle of the 3 lights were the wires all go. Then one wire going to supply?

There should be enough space to get the two cables in. You can do the junction box method if you have to.

You can just put LED lamps in yes.

What fittings did you get? Wickes own brand?

I got ip65 bnq diall. .

Would it be ok to sort of "squash" the 2 wires together with pliers in a spiral effect so its then almost like one, bigger fatter wire going into terminal?
