Replaced shower, no cold water.

I've just fitted the replacement shower that I've been sent and while there is some cold water coming out now it's not constant and ebbs and flows. It almost feels like there's not enough pressure to keep the shower supplied? Could that be right? I've replaced a non-thermostatic Mira Event XS with a new Thermostatic one. Could the motor just be more powerful now? Drawing more water?

I'm just letting the header tank fill before I try and turn it on again.

Absolutel nothing to do with that, the pump literally only requires inches of height/head from the CWST, as I asked before when you slacken the filter housing ENSURE that HOT (feel it) water flows out of the RED marked filter, and obviously cold from the blue marked filter.

I’ll check first thing in the morning,

This is a video of what’s happening.

Thanks for your help so far John, it’s very much appreciated.

I think Stuart that you will have to replace/install 2 isolating valves, use full bore lever valves of gate valves, this will allow you to remove that filter housing completely and give the pipes a thorough flush through as its very very unlikely but worth checking out that the hot/cold shower connections have been changed in the new shower(s).

The MIs for that shower gives a required minimum height of 80MM from the cistern bottom.

This morning I went back over everything you guys have told me in this thread and double checked everything.

The first replacement shower I had only gave me hot water, and you told me to take the bung out and check I was getting cold water at the junction where the pipes enter, and I was. So I still think that shower is faulty.

I realised that I hadn’t done that for the hot water this time and it was the hot that wasn’t working. I took the red bung out and there was no hot water… but I could hear it coming! A few seconds later it started to flow and when I was sure it was hot I replaced the bung and tried the shower again… we have a working shower!!!!

Thank you all so much for your help, just in time for my daughter coming back from Uni for the weekend.
