I have just bought a replacement built in electric oven, a Neff B1322, 220-240 volt, rated at 2.8 kw. It does not come supplied with a connecting cable (despite the instruction booklet saying it does)

It is to replace a Smeg combination electric oven & microwave, rated at 2.9 kw.

A cooker control unit with 13 amp socket is fitted above the worktop, this feeds a twin switched socket unit behind the cooker. The cooker was plugged into this socket unit with a 13 amp plug. A second plug is plugged into the socket unit and feeds the ignition on a gas hob above.

An electrican wanted £185 to do the job but wanted to replace the cooker control unit and the twin switched unit – is this realistic?

Or can a make a straight swop and connect the new Neff cooker is exactly the same way?

and what cable would I need to connet up the oven

should be fine to connect the new cooker in the same way as the old one.

use 1.5mm flex to connect the plug. unless you are sure the terminal area of the cooker will remain cool use heat resistant flex.

Don't forget to notify LABC in advance, will you...

To check that you have put the flex on the cooker correctly?
