Hello,

I need to replace a piece of existing coving. I assumed it would be standard 127mm coving but I measured the existing coving in place and the drop is approx 82mm but the projection from the wall is around 90mm. From what I understand 127mm coving should be 83mm for both measurements. Does this sound like an old style of coving that is no longer around anymore?

Many Thanks,

Glyn

Measure around the curve, or to put another way place tape against cove bending to ( shape.
Will be 127mm imperial or the new metric cove is120mm
Gyproc is 127mm
Kanuf is 120mm
Other brands available....

You have to consider the adhesive can be anything from 1mm to 5mm thick.
83mm dry but I always marked wall at 85mm.
Then it can twist when fitted so 82mm down but near 90mm at the top or as any version of that... Depends who fitted and if they followed a line..

Many thanks for the advice, I will give that method of measuring a try, cheers.

I placed a piece of paper just against the curve and its measured around 116mm. The back of the board says it is made by Gyproc. Does the 127mm also include the top and bottom edges of the coving which must be around 5mm each. Would 127mm Gyproc coving from B&Q match up?. Thanks.
