Hi all,

My heating water pump is making the worst squeaking nose. I've bled it and the radiators and it stops for a while but starts again. I'm pretty good with DIY so wanted to change it my self. It's a Brit Therm 15/60/130.

Have been looking for a replacement but would appreciate any advice on a replacement. Do I have to stick to the exact brand as the one I have? Would the wiring be different if I got another brand? I see there ones with a digital speed selector rather than the switch, any advantage of these?

Cheers in advance for your help.

You could take it apart and clean it up... Spin the impeller, bearings etc.

Or just replace with a tower pump.

New pump will be ERP so it will modulate to save energy.

They're all digital speeds

Hi Dilalio, I ordered the pump that you recommended and went to fit it today. Hope you can help with an issue? The new pumps flow is the wrong way when installed, my old one has the flow going down rather than up and the new one is going up. Can I just take the head off and switch it round? Cheers

Hi Gas, the instructions shows orientations of installation and if I put it in that way it's a away not to install it

Better to have the power lead in to the bottom. So remove the 4 Allen-headed bolts, and rotate the pump head 90°. Then install the pump with the flow arrow pointing in original direction.

Hi Fixitflav, cheers for the correction. Sorry I'm trying to get my head around this. The attached picture is the pump, i guess all pumps come with the flow from the bottom? I need it in that orientation but with the flow arrow on the left side going down. Is it that simple as turning the head ? Sorry if that's is a stupid question

Pumping upwards (or horizontally) is preferred, but downwards can be done. Flow direction depends on the pump body, not the head, so in your case you would fit it with arrow downwards. Rotating the head 180° puts the electrics in the right place.

Sorry. Busy day. Just seen this.
As others above have said.
Put pump body in the same orientation as existing and then remove pump head and rotate back onto body to suit.
4 Allen bolts out and back in.
