Replacing a floodlight but no cable on unit

Hi newbie here with my experiences limited to changing a broken socket!

I have an existing floodlight connected to a waterproof junction box with a 50cm wire. I bought a new floodlight (Brennenstuhl Connect Wi-Fi) and was hoping it would just be a case of disconnecting the old floodlight and using the existing wire to connect the new one.

However the 50cm wire is actually built into the old floodlight and the new floodlight has no wire outside the unit. I can’t install it where the junction box is as need about 30cm around the side of the wall.

My question is can I bastardised the old wire by cutting it off at the old floodlight and connecting it to the new one or do I need to buy a new section of waterproof wire and join that to the junction box and floodlight? If so can someone recommend what to buy. It’s a four system.

Yes but don't just cut it off, disconnect it from inside the old lamp ensure the connections are the same as the new one, then re-use the cable gland as well as the cable.

I would use the old wire, unless showing signs of cracking. Use some petroleum jelly on outside of cable to help seal it, same with any gasket, but not at bottom so moisture can get out.

Ah okay thanks you for the replies. I was worried when I opened up the floodlight it wouldn’t be possible. Will attempt in a few hours and any issues report back. Thank you very much

After gaining entry the ends are glued down and one has a metal screw in it. Is it still the case of using these connections (do I just break them out) or should I just cut the wire a little further up? Thank you

It looks like there has been a misunderstanding - you will have to cut the old wires if you want to reuse the cable.
