Replacing a section of downpipe

Thanks, I was thinking today when I looked at it again that removing the whole stack seemed ridiculous for something so small. I was also reading on the internet today about some bitumen backed tape that offers a waterproof repair. Does anyone have any experience of this? I found adverts by Sylglas and EABASSOC.
Thanks in advance for reading.

If you`re not too worried about the look of the repair.......a short length of new pipe and 2 rubber Fernco type connectores will do 100% air/water tight................maybe there`s someone here who will pop round and do it ;) a tape is a real bodge and messy  you could try getting this topic in Plumbing  Soil pipes come under that category...a downpipe is a rainwater pipe ;)

Thanks for that. After a visit to my local plumber's merchant today, I got someone round to do just that at a very reasonable cost.
Thanks to everyone who offered me help.
