Hi peeps, I’m re-vamping my kitchen and I’m looking to replace my old double oven with a new single oven. The old oven was hard-wired in but I’m not sure whether the new one (awaiting delivery) has to be hard-wired too. If it turns out that the new oven comes with a 13 amp plug on it (there are no nearby sockets - only the on/off switch to the old oven in the next cupboard below the worktop), what are my options to get it wired up and working.

Thank you for the reply. At the moment, the switch feeds both ceramic hob and double oven via two heavy duty cables (one for each). Assuming I leave the hob’s cable as is, are you saying I can run a new 13amp cable from this switch (in place of the oven’s old heavy duty cable) to a new 13amp plug socket to take the new oven’s plug, should it cone with one ?

Or remove the oven plug and hard wire it. (It is a myth that warranty would be affected).
