The master socket (NTE) can be fitted to a flush single electrical box. The filtered faceplate will still stick out a bit, but not as much.

Yeah, from memory, when moving a customer's NTE in 2019 (from upstairs to downstairs), the customer wanted as low a profile as possible, so I fitted a metal single gang back box (buried in the wall) and screwed the face plate(s) to that. Finding a supplier of the BT gel filled crimps and special crimping plier was easy enough. Sourcing the correct exterior cable was less easy so in the end I just cut off a section of the old cable.
