replacing scantronic 9600 with galaxy 48

Done the upgrade today

All went quite smoothly and I’m back there to finish it off

So few little issues

It’s showing both a keypad and Rio tamper

Also, it can see the Rio but there doesn’t seem to be any power out of it to the smoke detectors, is there a certain way to get it going?

Otherwise, seems to have gone well enough

I didn’t adjust any of the jumper or anything in the Rio and on the rotary switch is was set to 2 which I believe is correct

Ensure the keypad has clicked fully home. If the backplate has been overtightened, the backplate will warp and not depress the tamper button switch on the back of the PCB. There is an option to fit a pan headed screw in the backplate to depress the switch. Please see this in the manual.

Which RIO type do you have fitted ? If a power RIO it should have +12v on its +12v output. Panel +12v and Power RIO +12v should not be connected together. If a non-powered plastic RIO, then the panel power should supply it and the sensors.

The rotary switch on the RIO is likely okay on a Dimension 48 if no other RIOs are fitted. The RIOs also have tamper protection which is a switch with a spring on top which is depressed when the top cover is fitted. You can fit a jumper on the pins next to the switch to override it when working without the top cover.

It’s a CO72 normal non power rio

I’ve connected the negative and positive from the old Redcare PSU that the 9600 used to power it, connecting via the terminals on the left hand side as well as detector power on that side too

I’ll double check everything tomorrow

With the keypad tamper, I’ve got a fair few of those little pads which stop furniture wobbling so I’ll use one of them to sort it

Shouldn’t be too bad to get fully working
