Hi there,
I've a bathroom spotlight that no longer works. Obviously tried replacing the bub first but that didn't fix it.
I therefore assume that the transformed (pictured is knackered). Should I just try to buy and exact replacement (if I can find the same make/model). I was also looking to switch to LED (from the current halogen) does that affect what I need?
Hoping for someone more knowledgeable to give me some guidance!
I have a sparky coming to do a couple of other jobs so will add this to it, but wanted to get the parts for him.
Cheers for any advice
H

Yes ,you can get a new transformer. However ,changing to LED's won't work with the set up / transformers you currently have. Ask your spark about changing to mains voltage LEDs

Thanks for replying. I have changed some of the other (non-bathroom) spotlights from halogen to LED. They have been working albeit I notice these have different transformers (see pic)

Yes - you need new LED light fittings. No transformers required.

Replacing a single transformer might be cheaper, but the electricity used by those halogen ceiling burners will be more than 10x what LEDs would use.

I changed my 12 volt transformed downlights to mains using luceco lampholders, just wired up a jb in the downlight hole and added the lampholders, much cheper than having to open up the hole and use fire rated downlighters.
