Rewiring a bungalow with loft conversion

I don't recall Rhodesia ever being a major exporter of copper
Yes it certainly was, AIUI from teachings at school until 1972 and of course we all take that as gospel: That region of Africa had a massive copper belt across several countries making the biggest producer/exporter? of copper pre and post war.
Britain stopped buying their copper due to price rises in the 50's caused by the value of the pound against the dollar, we started using Ali as an alternative then, some 10 years before IDS declared independence mid 60's which everyone seems to cite as the cause.

AIUI the Ali cables were all imperial sizes (not checked this, please don't get upset) so nothing new made in ali in 70's (ish) for domestic sizes.

Pretty much as I recall, Northern Rhodesia which became Zambia in 1964 has a huge copperbelt, I remember ads for trades in the UK press and knew some guys who went out there. Southern Rhodesia now Zimbabwe (1980) was not a major copper exporter, as you correctly stated UDI did not have a significant effect on copper supply as claimed by Eric. IDS was the bogeyman of the UK and probably blamed for many things, when I lived there I used to drive past his flat which was as close to the boundary of Robert Mugabes gaff as was possible

Hi

My bungalow has a loft conversion using newer copper wiring done probably 25 years ago. Downstairs is aluminium?

How hard is it to rewire a bungalow with a loft conversion as regards access. I assume all upstairs boards will need to be removed?

There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, 2 downstairs, lounge, kitchen, bathroom, hall way and conservatory.

I'm looking at it and thinking it's going to be a hard and very expensive job?

Any ideas on the average cost? 8 grand perhaps?

Thanks
Aluminium? Much more likely to be tinned copper. Probably at least 60 years old.

Probably easier to make small or big holes in the ceiling below rather than pulling up the upstairs floor (likely to be chipboard if 25 years old).

IME, I have found aluminium cable in properties built between 1971 and 1976.
