Hi Oilhead thanks for your reply, was away for a few days,I have 2 filters on supply line, one at tank outlet(checked and cleaned) and one just before flexihose on boiler (which I replaced) same result. It is like the flame is not bright enough on initial start in the mornings for the photocell, like I said if I trick the photocell by exposing it to daylight on ignition,it will start no problem,if I leave it running for a few minutes like that and put the photocell back in place it will start and run all day with no problem until initial start up in the morning, would appreciate any suggestions,I`m going to get new nozzle tomorrow or am I wasting my time? Ps There is about 4ft head pressure in tank, had this problem since before the cold spell.

I remember several years ago having a similar problem with a Riello burner where it kept repeating the ignition cycle many times before it eventually settled down and kept running. No red light or lockout. If I remember correctly it turned out to be a fault with the controller.

Thanks for your thoughts, hope its not that, but if it has be changed so be it,I`ll try easier options first, thank you

Hopefully it will be something straightforward and cheap to fix but I think the main pointer here for you is the lack of lockout. Any failure of the start sequence should lock out the burner and that lockout is a function of the controller. Anyway good luck with your troubleshooting.

It is lighting for a few secs, will continue doing this for several minutes, then stay on and run as normal all day and evening, next morning, when cold, same issue
