Rightwing Backlash

he seems to be rather out off control because you find an issue or a specific point offensive doesnt mean you are an extremist with a point fully the other way
yes linekars words may not be the best choice his intension would not be to offend a minority but to show his disgust at the possible consequences of the ones who have lost control over the last 13 on this issue trying to pander to the small minority that seem to thrive on anything at all to deflect from the complete mess they are responsible for ------
now i just want to point out this is a private thought in no way connected to my employer's thoughts -----

and my employer is -----everyone as my state pension and everyone in the railway 1994 pension - perhaps my free thoughts are not my own

His original tweet was to say the Tories immigration was wrong blah blah blah. That's fine, I disagree, that's fine. At this stage he's probably slightly out of kilter with BBC policy and to a degree, that's fine, he's done it before and got away with it.

At that point somebody responded to his tweet saying he was 'out of order', That was when Lineker responded by comparing the Govt to the Nazi party, he over stepped the line, he made a mistake, at that point in time, he could have acknowledged that mistake and made some sort of half @rsed apology. He didn't, he doubled down and stood by his offensive insults likening the govt to a party responsible for murdering 6 million jews.

Dumb.

Of course, some on here love it.

i am not fully up to date with the niceties but iff not clarifying a specific point that is worrying a genuine person rather than someone who will automatically attack rather than compromise then we will find a solution will be far far away --- we need to compromise even with the ones we really really find to be wrong until a vote can Ballance things up a bit then those on the down side off that vote will complain like mad and those on the up still won't be happy but happier than the other side

Has BBC chairman Richard Sharp been suspended?

"Mr Sharp’s appointment as chairman of the BBC, during one of the most turbulent periods in its history in February 2021, was widely regarded as political.

At the time, the corporation faced scrutiny over equal pay, diversity, free TV licences for the over-75s and competition from streaming services like Netflix.

Mr Sharp, who is a multimillionaire and has appeared on the Sunday Times Rich List, is a long-term donor to the Conservative Party and sat on Boris Johnson’s board of economic advisers when he was London mayor."

Of course it's political. The choice of chairman of the BBC is ALWAYS made by, effectively, g o v e r n m e n t ministers.

That's the system, which you've been told, or you could look it up ( and not choose to misrepresent the matter like you did last time).

Notchy you've let your indignation hijack your brain.

Lineker IS employed by the BBC, he's under contract with them. They pay him. He works for them. Employed by them.
BBC is a News organisation and he's commenting on topical politics in a non-factual way, using his lies to discredit said organisation.
No there isn't generally a right to free speech. Try yelling out, "all xxxs should be castrated". You'd be arrested, rightly.
He specifically has no right to say what he did in that situation.
It's not censorship to disallow someone from saying something they have contractually agreed not to - and it's not true.

" In July 1933, the Nazis introduced a law that allowed the sterilisation of people with disabilities. It is estimated that approximately 300,000 people had been sterilised"
Hitler Makes First Call for Jews' 'Annihilation' in the 30's
Jews and gypsies were being thrown into concentration camps to starve to death. In the 30's.
"There is no room in the world for the Jews any more."

These are some of the speeches Lineker is saying govt policy is "like".

"The issue before the BBC’s director-general, Tim Davie, is not whether Lineker was right to describe the Government’s latest small boats policy as “immeasurably cruel” and “directed at the most vulnerable people in language not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s”. Most people, including many who dislike the Government’s policy, see his comparison with the Nazis as offensive, tasteless and factually wrong. Even the shadow attorney-general, Emily Thornberry, says Lineker “went too far”."

Again.

Read what Lineker actually said. Not what you think he said, or wanted him to say.
